Mama's Medicinal Herbs Tea - Lavender 50g

£1.70

Lavender is known to have many beneficial effects, including relieving anxiety and depression and supporting skin health.

Characteristics of common lavender

The word lavender comes from the Latin root “lavare,” which literally means “to wash.” Its earliest recorded use dates back to ancient Egypt, where lavender oil played an important role in the mummification process. In later times, lavender was also used in bathing in other regions, such as ancient Persia, Greece, and Rome, as it was believed to help cleanse the body and mind.

Common lavender ( Lavandula angustifolia ) is one of the best-known and most popular species of the lavender genus in Europe. Originally native to the Mediterranean region, it is now cultivated as an ornamental and medicinal plant in many parts of the world, including Hungary.

The effect of lavender tea

Lavender tea is a real balm for both body and soul. With its calming effect, it relieves tension and also stimulates the appetite. Its infusion can effectively eliminate nervous palpitations and unpleasant bloating, but it can also help relieve migraines, dizziness and melancholy. It also has diuretic properties. When making tea from it, only use a small amount of flowers, because its flavor is quite intense. Lavender flowers can also be used as a perfume and moth repellent, packed in a textile bag.

Lavender tea can be an excellent choice for both adults and children – but it is important to pay attention to the correct dosage. The daily dose of lavender tea for adults is usually one to two cups a day, while for children a smaller dose is sufficient, which is worth drinking before bedtime. Its side effects rarely include hives – so it is always worth paying attention to your body's individual reactions.
